Market Research Tool
I joined the Interac Innovation team as the sole designer and was tasked with building a market research automation tool for internal use. Before this project, the market research at the company relied on manual processes and often stored complex data from large datasets, which consumed substantial time for analysis. My team, including 4 engineers, created an automated system capable of analyzing and organizing raw data into clear, digestible insights, within 4-months. This solution was projected to save the Market Research Team 70% of the time previously spent on manual analysis, making the entire process efficient and reliable.
Action
To ensure the automated tool delivered on the goal of digestible insights, the team and I first had to structure the data logic. This visual demonstrates how we systematically broke down complex Raw Data Sources into three core categories (Market News, Company Information, Market Trend).

By breaking down the data, we successfully extracted Key Data which served as the foundation for the final product features. This systematic organization was crucial for mitigating complexity and addressing the core challenge of slow, complex analysis.
Mitigating Scope and Time Risk
Recognizing that a full feature build in four months would overwhelm the team, I suggested focusing resources on an Alpha MVP. We prioritized Market Highlights, Favorite Verticals, News Search, and Company Search as the Core Features. This allowed the engineering team to focus solely on building, testing, and ensuring the stability of the essential features, while I provided dedicated, close design support for implementation questions.
While the full implementation and launch of the tool occurred after my time at Interac concluded, my work on the project yielded several positive outcomes:
